A DIY enthusiast MP set up an advice session in a home improvements store yesterday.
Darlington MP Alan Milburn met his constituents at the town's B&Q Warehouse, but rather than offer advice on DIY issues, he concentrated on local matters of concern.
Mr Milburn said: "I'm thrilled to have the chance to hold one of my advice surgeries in B&Q, on top of the regular ones I do elsewhere across the constituency."
As well as speaking to customers, Mr Milburn met staff, including some of the over-50s who choose to continue working, rather than retire. More than 20 per cent of B&Q's staff are over-50, as it believes older employees have experiences to contribute to a team.
