ARTISTS are being invited to take part in a watercolour challenge at a stately home on Saturday.
Ronald Falck, artist in residence at Castle Howard, near Malton, has organised the competition, which is open to all amateur watercolour artists.
Competitors will be given the day to create at least one piece of work.
Their efforts will be subject to public scrutiny and Dr Chris Ridgway, Castle Howard curator, will pick the winner, who will receive a trophy and two Castle Howard season tickets for next year.
Mr Falck said: "Castle Howard is one of the most inspirational settings for my own work.
"I am particularly looking forward to the watercolour challenge competition as it should bring out a variety of styles and approaches from the group.
"We will be looking for emotion and atmosphere from the interpretations and feelings portrayed using composition of colour harmony, light and shade, textures and contrast, all inspired by the stunning surroundings."
Competitors must register before the day. Entry forms are available from Mr Falck on (01262) 401334.
