CHILDREN got a taste of the seaside in Darlington.
Despite rainy weather, more than 150 parents and children attended the Fun by the Sea event, staged by SureStart at Skerne Park Primary School.
Children played in the rain, in the sand and water, wrote a play and watched Punch and Judy shows. They also enjoyed a bouncy castle and fairground ride.
SureStart links with other agencies, including Darlington Primary Care Trust and Darlington Borough Council, to help children under four.
Staff used the event to highlight health messages, including how to play safely in the sun and water, and the importance of eating fruit and drinking water.
SureStart information officer Angela Paylor said: "It has been brilliant, even though the weather had been awful. It has been a great opportunity to raise the profile of the school and chat with parents."
