SATURDAY'S sweltering temperatures encouraged thousands of people to make a visit to the 97th Osmotherley and District Show.
The animal, handicraft and horticulture classes provided the usual raft of winners and losers and the ever popular, vintage displays, gymkhana and sheep dog trials were well received.
John Dennis, president of the Osmotherley and District Horticultural Society, said the show had been a big success.
"We had an excellent show" he said. "There was a very good crowd and people seemed to be enjoying themselves in the beautiful warm weather.
"Some of the entries were a bit disappointing in the produce side of it. I think some of the gardeners said they were having bad years."
He also paid tribute to the organisers. "An awful lot of credit must go to the people behind the show because they put in a lot of hard work," he said.
