CHILDREN about to make the move from primary to senior school have met one of their sporting heroes.
Sunderland AFC has been running summer schools at the Stadium of Light as part of the SAFC Foundation's Step Up programme.
Pupils from nine schools across the Easington district, who took part in the scheme, met Black Cats midfielder Liam Lawrence. They also took part in literacy and numeracy activities, practical exercises, role play, and wrote sports match reports.
The scheme was funded by Caterpillar, based in Peterlee, and free transport was provided by Go North East.
