Bosses at one of the region's leading colleges will be assessing the damage today after fire swept through a classroom block.
The blaze broke out in the early hours of this morning at Gateshead College, in Joicey Road, Low Fell.
Two classrooms were severely damaged by fire and the rest of the block was damaged by water as three fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze.
Investigations to determine how the fire started are continuing.
