THE driver of a Peugeot 306 car had a lucky escape after it overturned in heavy rain.
The motorist is understood to have lost control of the vehicle in a torrential downpour, resulting in the car overturning and ending up on its roof on the A167, at the junction with the A1(M), just outside Darlington, at about 2pm yesterday.
Firefighters attended the scene, but the driver, believed to be from Darlington, had already managed to get out of the car and was unhurt.
The accident caused the road to be blocked for about half an hour.
