THE weather may have been wet, but children in Spennymoor were determined to have fun beside the sea yesterday.
More than 50 youngsters from churches served by the Sedgefield Methodist Circuit enjoyed seaside activities at Trinity Methodist Church.
Church leaders brought the beach indoors with sandpits, a picnic, and games and crafts with a seaside theme.
The Reverend John Bower said: "It is important to us to bring the community together throughout the week, so the church is seen as more than a venue for Sunday worship, and to occupy children during the summer holidays."
Organiser Joanne Lancastle said: "It is particularly nice to enjoy seaside activities inside when the weather outside is so horrendous."
The event continues today and tomorrow for children from Spennymoor, Byers Green, Ferryhill and Binchester areas.
