A MODEL aircraft believed to be the biggest jet-powered remote-control model in the world will be the star of a popular show.
The Yorkshire Giant and Jet Model Spectacular will take place on Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 4.30pm, at Rufforth, York.
One of the main attractions for the thousands of visitors is expected to be a 1/7 scale model of a Boeing B52 made by enthusiast and garage owner Gordon Nichols, from Bristol.
It took 18 months to build, weighs more than 300lb and has a wingspan of nearly 25ft.
It is powered by eight gas turbine engines, which consume more than five gallons of kerosene during a five-minute flight.
It is also the most expensive large model made, costing more than £30,000.
Admission to the show is £7 for adults, and £6 for children and pensioners.
