A MAN was in hospital last night after being severely beaten by three men in an unprovoked street attack.
The 33-year-old victim suffered broken ribs and what are described as substantial facial injuries in the incident on Friday night.
Last night, he was described as being in a stable condition in hospital.
The attack took place in Sunderland's Quarry Street shortly after 8pm as he walked with a friend.
Police believe the street was busy at the time and have asked witnesses to call 0191-454 7555.
