A YOUNG girl who has bravely battled all her life with one leg is being given new hope thanks to the generosity of Darlington's market traders.
Stallholders in the town have raised £200 to buy a prosthetic limb for ten-year-old Debora Lazore, who lives in Burkina Faso, the poorest country on the African continent.
Ian Littlewood, from North Rise, in Darlington, learned about the plight of the young girl through a mutual friend, Salomon Sawadogo, and wanted to help Debora learn to walk with a false leg.
Supported by market trader Dawn Wheeler, Mr Littlewood has collected the £200 from stallholders at both the indoor and outdoor markets.
The money he raised will be used to pay for the false leg. The money was transferred to Burkina Faso via Western Union on Monday.
