THE first Darlington Walking Festival will begin later this month.
It will take place over the weekend of August 21 and 22, and will include routes for walkers of all abilities.
On offer are a family treasure hunt, guided town walks and a ten-mile walk following sections of Darlington's historic railway lines.
The weekend has been organised by Darlington Borough Council's countryside team.
Walkers are advised to wear suitable footwear and to dress for all weather conditions. An adult must accompany children under 14, and dogs are not allowed. All walkers are asked to take refreshments, particularly water.
Details of the programme are available on a leaflet from Information Darlington, Darlington libraries and the town hall.
