AN opera singer has backed a project to encourage creativity in Teesside youngsters.
Soprano Suzannah Clarke, of Middlesbrough, has agreed to advocate the work of the Government-backed Creative Partnerships organisation.
The organisation will continue to work with 20 schools across the Tees Valley for the next four years to encourage pupils to take an active interest in the arts.
Ms Clarke, who is a "creative friend" to Normanby Primary School in Middlesbrough, said: "Creative Partnerships is introducing children to a whole new world of opportunities, not just in the arts but in a wide variety of different areas."
"The Blaze! opera project, which I have just finished working on with Creative Partnerships Tees Valley, was an excellent example of this.
"The children who took part not only learned about singing and acting, but they also saw how a stage is prepared, how a show is directed and how the media works."
