YOUNG performers brought Bollywood to Wolsingham at an arts workshop with an Indian theme.
After two weeks of rehearsals, the youngsters are ready to stage three performances of their version of a Hindu epic, The Ramayana, led by the Jackass Youth Theatre and Jack Drum Arts.
Youth theatre members Jack and Tom Burton, Laura Emerson, Glen Hodgson, Joseph Robson and Colin Simpson, have worked with 50 children from Wear Valley and Teesdale at Wolsingham School and Community College.
They have used music, dance, puppets, masks and mehindi body art to stage the production.
Dancer Seema Hussain and musician Gary Singh, from Middlesbrough, added authentic touches to the show, which will be staged at the school today, at 3pm, and in Hamsterley Forest tomorrow, at 2.30pm. A performance due to be held in Blackhill Park, at 2pm, on Saturday, will now also be staged at the school.
