A HERITAGE project focusing on horse-drawn vehicles is to be discussed on Monday.
People are being invited to an information evening to examine creating a Shildon Community Rail Trail, exploring the history of transport before cars.
It is being organised by a small group of people who hope to set up a museum displaying old vehicles and offering activities including a wheel-making demonstrations and horse-drawn carriage rides highlighting sites of historic interest.
Organiser Richard Wigham said: "The project is in its very early stages, which is why we wanted to get input from the community now, so we could find out what people would like to get out of it.
"We estimate it will take at least two years to get off the ground, but we need to start laying the foundations for things like funding."
The group has started its collection of exhibits with a 70-year-old rolly, used to transport coal, given by the town's Locomotion railway museum.
Mr Wigham said the group would like to hear from anyone with old horse-drawn vehicles, wheels, or other parts of vehicles, in any condition.
Monday's meeting will be in the Old Sunday School, Soho Street, at 6.30pm. For details call (01388) 527737 or 07814 324444.
