A REQUEST for tennis fans to support improved facilities in Ferryhill has met with a disappointing response.
Ferryhill residents were asked if they would be interested in using upgraded facilities.
But only three people contacted the council to say they supported the idea.
The tennis courts at Dean Bank Park are in poor repair after repeated vandal attacks by local youths.
The council estimates it would cost £45,00 to0 to repair them.
A Ferryhill Town Council spokesman said: "It is extremely unlikely that any funder would provide money with the current level of support for the tennis courts."
