A TEAM of health workers that treats patients suffering severe pain is working under one roof.
The Chronic Pain Team, at Harrogate District Hospital, has moved into the new Phoenix Unit, in the former Willow Ward.
The unit brings together physiotherapists, a clinical psychologist, consultant anaesthetist and occupational therapists to treat about 140 patients a year from Harrogate, Ripon and the surrounding area.
Gail Brooke, superintendent physiotherapist with the team, said: "People referred to our service by their GP are often at the end of their tether. We aim to help them develop coping strategies and teach them pain management techniques which work for their own particular circumstances.
"Previously patients had to go all over the hospital so it was confusing for them and also we did not have the dedicated treatment facilities we needed.
The unit will be holding an open day on Monday, September 13, from 11am to 1.30pm.
