EMPLOYEES of a small firm may lose their jobs because of thieves who are targeting the company.
Raiders have stolen copper sheets worth about £45,000 from Peel Jones Copper Products, in Carlin Howe, east Cleveland, potentially destroying the company's future contracts.
Nearly 70 sheets, destined for Brazil, were taken from the firm, which employs more than 40 staff.
Three youths, who were caught on CCTV cameras which monitor the site, used the firm's truck in the raid.
It is thought they have been selling the sheeting as scrap for about £4,000, when its commercial value is much higher.
There were two attempted thefts at the firm last month, but police were alerted and nothing was taken.
The company's foundry manager, Steve Waite, believes similar thefts could cause the firm to go under.
Steel fencing has now been put up around the compound where products are stored.
