PATIENTS who rely on transport provided by Langbaurgh Primary Care Trust (PCT) to get to hospital appointments are to benefit from a new transport service provider.
From the end of this month, Primecare, which provides the out-of-hours urgent care service on behalf of Langbaurgh PCT, will also become responsible for the patient transport element of the service.
The service is available for patients who cannot get to appointments at community hospital primary care clinics.
A trust spokesperson said: "Primecare will ensure that transport resources are available to respond and take patients to their appointments at the primary care clinics.
"The trust can therefore reassure patients of its continued commitment to delivering a high quality out-of-hours urgent care service across Langbaurgh.
"The service standard and specification remains unchanged and patients will notice little, if any, difference."
Patients with an urgent medical need outside normal surgery hours should ring the Out of Hours service on (0870) 240 6518.
If patients have any queries about this service, they can contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service on (0800) 0130 500.
