A WOMAN was left traumatised after being dragged from the street into an alley and raped.
The 23-year-old woman was attacked in the early hours of the morning as she walked through the Bensham area of Gateshead.
The incident happened close to the Blue Azure pub, between 2am and 2.30am on Sunday, but details of the attack have only just been released by police.
The woman was approached by a man, thought to be in his early thirties, as she walked along Westfield Road and the pair began talking.
However, he suddenly dragged her into a back lane, between Eastbourne Avenue and Westbourne Avenue, and assaulted her, before running off towards Saltwell Park.
Police said the victim did not suffer serious injury, but was left traumatised by the assault.
The attacker is described as being 5ft 10in, slim, with dark hair parted in the middle. He was wearing a dark shirt and jeans.
