A PLUCKY young performer has proved the show must go on after she broke an ankle in an accident.
Katy Forth, 11, will sing her song in the Nunthorpe Players' Musical Extravaganza this week in a chair after she slipped on wet grass while playing badminton two weeks into the school summer holiday.
She is in some pain as she also suffers from rheumatoid arthritis.
Her mother, Joanne, said there was no holding Katy back. She said: "Anything to do with singing and dancing and Katy is 100 per cent committed. She keeps on going.
"She was supposed to be dancing in the production, but obviously she cannot dance now.''
Katy is not the only cast member on crutches. Her friend and fellow entertainer, Kathryn Marshall, 12, suffered a knee injury when she fell off a stage during a disco recently.
Kathryn will now sing her number off stage.
Reg Hinton, of the Nunthorpe Players', said: "The show springs out of the desire by the youngsters who took part in the January pantomime to show off their talents. It consists of a number of songs and dances from popular music and well-known shows."
The show will start at 7.30pm at St Mary's Church Hall, Morton Carr Lane, Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough, on Friday and Saturday.
Tickets are £5, and £4 for concessions. Tickets will be available at the door from 7pm on the evening of the performances.
