CHARITY supporters hope to help in the fight against cancer by staging a bumper coffee morning.
The Lanchester and District Macmillan Committee will take part in Macmillan Cancer Relief's "world's biggest coffee morning".
The committee's event will be held for the third time at the Derwent Manor, formerly the Royal Derwent Hotel, at Allensford, near Consett, on Friday, September 24, from 10am to 12.30pm.
Tyne Tees TV weatherman Bob Johnson will be at the event at 11.15am and entertainment will be provided by pupils from Castleside Primary School.
Committee secretary Brenda Hall said: "Paul Slattery, the caricaturist who holds a place in the Guinness Book of Records for his drawing of Alan Shearer, which is the biggest in the world and was hung over the Tyne Bridge, will be demonstrating his talents."
There will also be a raffle, bran tub and stalls selling craftwork.
Entry and coffee are free, but donations are requested.
Organisers hope to beat last year's total of £1,000.
