A TEAM of hairdressers could win a European trip after they won a regional competition.
The team from Toni and Guy, in Durham's Prince Bishops Shopping Centre, won the regional heat of L'Oreal Hair Idol and will represent the North-East in the national final.
Assistant manager Lisa Walton, style director Nicola Metcalfe and senior colour technician Mark Sutherland will compete in the final at the end of the month in London against three salons.
The prizes include an educational trip to Europe with the Toni and Guy art team and two L'Oreal Colour Trophy tickets.
The salon was one of 24 that competed in the regional heat that included a live hair presentation. The trio impressed the judges with a beach-inspired theme.
Ms Walton said: "We are thrilled to bits to get this far and really think we can go all the way. We put a lot of thought and detail into our presentation and are always looking at new ideas and fashions which we can use for various competitions.
"Hair Idol is a great way of encouraging flair, creativity and relationships within the salon and, of course, it is a good opportunity to show off our talents as a leading edge salon.''
Jade Pellet, of L'Oreal, said: "The team's entry really stood out because their presentation was in line with what is currently happening in fashion."
