A HEROIN addict who stole money from his girlfriend's father to feed his habit is to be assessed for a possible drug treatment course.

Paul Price, 25, admitted stealing £4,050 on April 10, and stealing a mobile phone from a second victim ten days later. He was remanded in custody to return to Durham Crown Court for sentencing on September 10.

The court was told that Price, of Station Road, Easington, had been on courses in a bid to kick his habit while serving a recent six-month sentence, also for theft.

Judge Richard Lowden adjourned sentencing Price pending assessment of his suitability to undergo a drug treatment and testing order.
