A COUNCIL has donated 50 computers to the Prince's Trust to help young people establish small businesses.
The computers will also help youngsters to access employment training or further education and work with the Excel Clubs run by schools to get them interested in education.
North Yorkshire County Council was able to make the donation as it is currently standardising its computers and bringing them on to a wide area broadband network.
The computers donated are all serviceable and have been made usable for the Prince's Trust.
County councillor Carl Les, executive member for corporate services, said: "The county council is very happy to donate the computers to such a valuable and worthwhile cause.
"It supports the Prince's Trust financially and in other ways and we hope that the young people who use them enjoy doing so and gain the benefits of training, or indeed, employment."
