IN the heyday of Hammer Horror, she was one of the queens of scream, bringing a glamorous touch to the blood-spattered scenes on screen.

She regularly rubbed shoulders with the likes of Dracula and Frankenstein in classic tales of terror that later became Friday night TV must-sees.

Now Yorkshire-born Veronica Carlson is back, and hoping to help terrify a new generation of fright-movie fans.

Along with fellow horror stars Ingrid Pitt and Caroline Munro, Ms Carlson, originally from York, is making a return to the genre that made her name

The trio will appear in the first of a three-part film from newly launched production company Hammer Glammer Films Limited, called Three for Hell.

Ms Carlson once shrieked and swooned her way through films such as Dracula Has Risen From the Grave and Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed.

Ms Pitt starred in a string of gruesome offerings such as The Vampire Lovers and The House That Dripped Blood, as well as the cult classic the Wicker Man.

Ms Munro's credits included Dracula AD1972 and Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter before she became a Bond girl in The Spy Who Loved Me.

In their new offering, the trio will be joined by some fresh blood in the shape of Ms Pitt's daughter, Steffanie. They will star together as vampires in the first part of the trilogy, Somewhere After Midnight.

The macabre movies will be co-produced by Ms Pitt's husband, Tony Rudlin, and Annabel Olivier-Wright.

Aimed at the DVD market, shooting will begin soon for release in the spring.
