A MAN found dead in his house had been attacked by youths only hours before his death, it emerged yesterday.
William Dumble, 47, was found collapsed at his home in Agar Road, Farringdon, Sunderland, on Monday lunch- time. He was confirmed dead at the scene.
Mr Dumble had been attacked by a gang of youths as he left the Sandhills pub in Grindon, Sunderland, on Sunday night.
Detectives investigating the circumstances of his death last night said it had nothing to do with the assault.
A police spokeswoman said: "It is not being treated as a suspicious death at this time.
"A post-mortem examination has been carried out and established that his death was not connected to injuries sustained during the assault.
"Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of his assault."
Two youths have been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail, pending further inquiries.
