THREE men have been arrested over a city centre car crash in which two men died.
The head-on crash happened shortly before 2pm on Wednesday, on the Great North Road, in Newcastle, near Barras Bridge.
Three cars were involved in the collision and the drivers of two of the vehicles were trapped in the wreckage and died.
The third car, a blue Jaguar Sovereign, left the scene.
Police yesterday recovered a Jaguar and arrested three people in connection with the crash. They were last night being questioned at a police station in Newcastle.
Investigators are keen to speak to anyone who saw the Jaguar being driven erratically in the Newcastle area on Wednesday.
