YESTERDAY'S results pushed Ashley Scott into the spotlight for the second time.
The 18-year-old sports enthusiast, a pupil at Emmanuel College, in Gateshead, has already achieved fame as a finalist in the BBC television show Born To Win, where she demonstrated her talent at football and karate.
Yesterday, she was celebrating three B grades in biology, PE and business, sufficient to win a place at Northumbria University, where she will study sports science.
Ashley, who is also a talented hurdler, said: I am so pleased. I did much better than I thought. I was dreading it."
College principal Jonathan Winch was full of praise for his talented pupil.
He said: "Ashley is an inspiration.
"The focus and gritty determination which makes someone the best on the football pitch is exactly what's required for A-levels.
"Ashley has proved that it is possible to do justice to top-level sport without losing the academic edge."
