A TEENAGE entrepreneur has brought city bar culture to a North Yorkshire market town.
Katrina Shaw, 19, has opened Kat's Bar, in Rosemary Lane, Richmond, following a £75,000 refurbishment of the premises, formerly known as Rosie's Bar.
She said: "I have lived in the Richmond area for some time now and wanted to establish a place with a welcoming atmosphere that offered something completely different to what was already on offer.
"We are aiming ourselves at the type of people who would like to see a little bit of city bar culture in Richmond."
Miss Shaw is also hoping to take advantage of day trade by opening an ice cream parlour and coffee shop downstairs.
She said: "Again, we have tried to offer something different to the norm downstairs and serve our coffee properly, the way the Italians like it.
"We have completely overhauled the property to create a light space that people will want to spend time in."
Miss Shaw gained her licensing qualification at Darlington College.
