AN Army recruitment team will be touring part of the North-East next week to coincide with the release of GCSE results.
It is part of a campaign to tell local young people about different career opportunities with the Army.
Representatives of the 4th Regiment Royal Artillery will be in Durham city centre on Monday, Thursday and Friday. They will also visit Consett on Wednesday.
They will talk to young people about the skills development, sporting, travel and training opportunities available as part of an Army career, as well as answering questions potential recruits may have.
Warrant Officer Garry Bennett, office manager at the Durham Army Careers Information Office, said: "We know that the best way for young people to find out what life is really like in the Army is for them to speak directly to serving soldiers, so we're going out and about to give them a chance to do so.
"The timing is great, as it coincides with the release of the GCSE exam results, so we will be looking to talk to those youngsters who don't intend to return to school to do A-levels and are deciding what to do next instead."
