COUNCILLORS are to take a closer look at the site of an application for three terraced houses in Sedgefield village.
The proposal was discussed at a meeting of Sedgefield Borough Council's development control committee yesterday.
Officers had recommended the application, for land behind the police station at West Park Lane, be refused.
They said the houses would detract from the character and appearance of the village's conservation area.
There were also concerns about the volume of traffic on the single-lane West Park Lane, which has no pavement.
The applicant attempted to address those concerns when he spoke to members at the meeting.
Members of the council's planning committee voted to make a site visit before reaching a decision. The visit will take place on Tuesday, September 7.
