THE creation of a conservation area in memory of two Scout leaders has been approved by councillors.
A wetland site on playing fields in Heighington, near Darlington, has been chosen for a memorial park.
The area, which will be planted with trees and bulbs and have a walkway, will commemorate the work Natasha Wilson and Andrew Muckley did for Heighington Baden-Powell Scout Group.
Both Scout leaders died earlier this year.
At a Heighington Parish Council meeting on Thursday, councillors agreed to support the development of the conservation area, which will be carried out by Akela Sharon Marshall and the Scouts.
