TRAIN enthusiasts were treated to a model railway exhibition at a seaside town at the weekend.

The Cleveland Model Railway Club hosted the exhibition, which included working model railways, static exhibits, demonstrations and traders from all over the country at Redcar and Cleveland College, Redcar, on Saturday and Sunday.

The Boosbeck-based group made sure that visitors could learn how to create their own models and model railways through modelling demonstrations.

On show were scale models and layouts, from 2mm to 7mm, from all eras to the present day.

The exhibition also featured layouts, well-known in the model railway press, including the Stoke Summit, Thompson's End and Woodhouse.

Trade stands meant both modellers and newcomers could purchase everything they needed to build a model or model railway of their own.

Models and layouts at the exhibition competed for the British Railways Modelling Trophy, which was presented to the winner by Tony Wright, editor of British Railways Modelling.
