POLICE have been unable to confirm whether a man whose death they are treating as suspicious suffered any injuries before he died.
The body of Lewis Welch, 32, an oil industry worker, was found at a flat in Wheatacre Close, Marske, shortly before 7pm on Saturday.
Mr Lewis, a single man, had returned to the UK the day before after working abroad with the oil industry.
Police, who believe Mr Welch may have taken drugs, were unable to comment on whether there were signs of violence. A post-mortem examination was carried out but no cause of death has yet been established.
Police say further tests are being carried out.
Two men, who were at the house, have been arrested in connection with the death.
Both have been released on police bail.
Acting Detective Sergeant Mike Harper said: "We are keen to trace anyone who had been in contact with Mr Welch since his return to the UK.
"We are particularly interested in speaking to people who may have been with him during the day on Saturday and to anyone who visited the house at 5 Wheatacre Close."
Anyone with information is asked to call Acting Det Insp Mick Harper at Redcar CID, on (01642) 302626.
