A 21-YEAR-OLD man was remanded in custody at the weekend charged with causing the deaths of two motorists in a three-car collision in a busy city centre.
Robert Charles Parry was accused of causing the deaths of Andrew Moore and Gwyn Price by dangerous driving.
Mr Parry, of Green Field Place, Newcastle, was also accused of driving with no insurance, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident.
The charges arose from a car crash on the Great North Road.
The collision involved Mr Moore's Renault Clio, Mr Price's Vauxhall Zafira and a Jaguar Sovereign car - allegedly driven by Mr Parry.
Mr Moore, 22, of Melmerby Close, Gosforth, Newcastle, and Mr Price, 29, of Half Moon Street, Stakeford, Northumberland, died instantly in the accident, which happened shortly before 2pm on Wednesday.
Newcastle magistrates remanded Mr Parry in custody to appear at the city's Crown Court on Friday.
No application for bail was made.
Two other people also arrested in connection with the collision have been bailed pending further inquiries.
