YOUNG jobseekers are being urged to take part in a programme aimed at giving them the skills needed in the world of work.
The Prince's Trust based at the YMCA in Consett is looking for young people from Derwentside aged 16 to 25 to take part in its Team Challenge.
Course leader Helen Daglish said: "This is to try and help move people towards employment by looking at issues such as working as a team, leadership skills and problem solving."
The 12-week course, which starts on September 13, includes a residential, and a two-week work placement. Participants will also have to organise an event for a community group, plus carry out a project to benefit the community.
Mrs Daglish also hopes to include courses so they can achieve health and safety and food hygiene certificates.
"It is a very challenging programme and people have to be committed, but it is very rewarding."
Eleven people completed a similar course earlier this year and five have since found work.
Up to 25 places are available on the scheme. For further details, visit the YMCA in Parliament Street, Consett, or contact Mrs Daglish on (01207) 502680.
