STAFF at a leisure centre have been celebrating after learning that it has won recognition in a national assessment programme.
Bedale Leisure Centre was placed in the top two per cent of leisure facilities in the UK.
To achieve the award, centres have to pass a strict continuous assessment process, which includes maintenance checks and visits from inspectors.
Centre manager Fiona Hughes said: "This award is not just about the management of the centre - it is for the staff. It is a reflection of the hard work by everyone here and the great facilities we are providing for the people of Hambleton."
