VISITORS to a railway museum were taken back in time to hear about the history of trains from none other than George Stephenson.
Members of the Pluto Theatre Company played the railway pioneer, as well as leading Victorian actress Fanny Kemble and James Durham, who saw a ghost at the museum.
The trio gave a guided tour to visitors at Darlington Railway Museum and acted out historical events about the development of trains and railways.
The show was titled The Tale Of Trains Gone By and took place on Saturday and Sunday.
Visitor assistant Colin Moore said: "It is about bringing history to life and giving people a feel of the Victorian age.
"They were very professional and the we have had some good feedback from customers.
"There was a Dutch family who seemed very interested, so it obviously translates well."
Darlington Railway Museum is employing actors this year and next thanks to a £15,000 grant secured by the museum as part of Renaissance in the Regions.
