A NEW look caf will open for the first time today at Age Concern Darlington.
The Cafe 50 Plus opens after a period of refurbishment and will initially open from 10am to 2pm.
It will serve tea, coffee, teacakes and scones until noon, and after mid-day offer a menu of soup, sandwiches and refreshments.
Dr Glen Reynolds, spokesman for the charity, said: "In the first few weeks the Cafe 50 Plus will introduce hot and cold light meals, following advice on healthy eating from the Darlington College of Technology.
"Towards the end of the year there will be a more complete menu.
Later opening of Cafe 50 Plus will be planned once further reorganisation has been carried out in the autumn."
