STUDENTS at a college for the blind and visually-impaired have been doing their bit to keep thousands of youngsters safe.
For the 12th year running, students at Henshaws College, in Harrogate, have been playing a vital part in North Yorkshire's annual Crucial Crew programme.
The programme is run by the police and involves holding safety information days for children about to move to secondary school.
Over the years, Henshaws students have packed thousands of safety information packs for the events - 28,000, to be precise - and this year was no exception.
To thank them for their hard work, PC Alan Drinkall visited the college and presented them with a digital camera for their efforts over the years. "The students were delighted that their work had been recognised by the police," said a spokesman for the college.
