Orange is to extend its 3G mobile network service across the region next month.
The company, which employs 5,500 staff in the region, is holding two roadshows in Gateshead to explain to businesses the benefits of the latest technology.
Orange has the UK's largest integrated 2.5G and 3G network, enabling organisations to access e-mail, the Internet and office networks while on the move at up to seven-times faster than standard dial-up connections.
The first event will be for medium to large businesses - those with 50 or more employees - on September 13, with a second showcase for smaller businesses on September 21.
Both events will be held at the Marriott Hotel, in Gateshead.
Nigel Hall, 3G director at Orange, said: "Orange is committed to businesses in the UK. We feel that our 3G network will help employees from businesses in the North-East work more efficiently and effectively than ever by accessing critical business applications from their laptops whilst on the move."
