A £500,000 grant has been awarded to a project based at Teesside University aiming to encourage more young people to consider a future in engineering and science.
The SETPOINT North East scheme, based at the Centre for Lifelong Learning, runs courses to inspire school pupils to explore technology, maths, engineering and science.
The government grant will allow youngsters in Yorkshire and Humberside to take part in the scheme.
Director Colin Wilkinson said: "It will allow us to open up the worlds of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and the fascinating careers available in these areas to over 100,000 young people."
