Guisborough, 16 points ahead of Bishop Auckland, are aiming to equal one record and to create another.
Following three consecutive championship wins they aim to equal the record achieved by themselves between 1909-1912 and by Darlington during 1920-1923 who are the only clubs ever to have won the title four years on the trot.
And having already lifted the Kerridge Cup Guisborough are out to complete a cup and league double which they have never ever succeeded in doing in the past.
"There is an awful lot for us to play for. No side has ever won the league four years running in 81 years and we have never achieved a Kerridge Cup and league double," said Gary Bolton.
Today Guisborough play their penultimate match of the season when Normanby Hall visit Fountains Garth and although there is a slight concern regarding Saul Clifford, who was injured on Monday, Guisborough anticipate being at full strength.
Second top Bishop Auckland have been in excellent form in recent weeks but have been unable to catch up on Guisborough. They visit Blackhall who gave themselves a chance of avoiding relegation when they chalked up only their second win of the season last weekend.
"It will be a tough game since the Colliers now see a window of opportunity. They are only six points behind Marske and will fight tooth and nail for every point," observed Bishop's director of cricket, Paul Furby.
Bishops name an unchanged side while Blackhall line up Ricky Darwin and David Mole for Chris Brown and Billy Dawson.
Northallerton, who have been in pole position several times during the season, are now all but mathematically out of the race.
Skipper Ian Gill resumes at Great Ayton who have David Grainge replacing the unavailable Glen Mudd.
By their standards Saltburn have had a disappointing season even though they are fourth and still in with a chance of ending runners-up. They host Redcar who name Mick McCabe for Mattie Stokeld.
Lee Craggs, Richard Biddle and James Stock drop out of the Darlington line-up and are replaced by Duncan Johnson, Liam Brown and Derek Coates for the game at Feethams against Middlesbrough who include 15-year-old wicket keeper Jonathan Spillane. Darren Birkett returns with Chris Mudoch and Omar Shahid reverting to the second XI.
Darlington RA anticipate making few alterations to their line-up for the game at Marske who desperately need a good result if they are to avoid dropping into division one. With Dean Burrows ruled out Peter Rhoden keeps his place in the Hartlepool side to play Richmondshire at Park Drive.
