Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery in Hartlepool at about 8.30pm on Friday.
A woman was grabbed by a man in an alley between Alliance Street and Montague Street. He demanded her handbag but she put up a struggle and escaped unhurt. The attacker is described as 6ft 4ins, skinny and was wearing dark trousers and a white hooded top. Anyone with information is asked to contact Hartlepool police on (01642) 302126.
