Burnmoor are the new champions.
Although nearest rivals Boldon beat Seaham Harbour, Burnmoor's five-wicket win at South Hetton meant they retained their two-points lead. However, their win was hard-earned.
South Hetton were only able to post 119 mainly due to the accuracy of Michael Callaghan and Ian Conn. It was Paul Burn though with 4-8 who was the most successful wicket-taker when he picked up late scalps.
South Hetton caused an early panic to the Moor's run chase when they captured three wickets for just 30 runs. Professional Mark Benfield (67 not out) then found the support he needed from Neil Young. The pair added 85 together to enable Burnmoor to take the title.
Boldon won convincingly at Seaham Harbour but it was to no avail. Gareth Smith caused early problems but David Leslie (61) and Shaun Cartledge put on 73 to hold Boldon up. Then four wickets from Chris Miller saw the Harbour dip to 134 all out.
Grant Forster (37) put his side on the winning track before an unbeaten 40 by Orlanzo Jackson made certain of the seven-wicket victory.
Whitburn produced a solid performance at Marsden and won comfortably by seven wickets. Yet again, the mainstay of the Whitburn innings was professional Ashley Thorpe. The Australian partnered by Neil Ayre (47) added 88 for the second wicket to destroy any hopes Marsden had of successfully defending their modest 158.
Thorpe smacked 15 boundaries in his unbeaten 81 and he had been earlier responsible for Marsden's demise.
Mark Scott (43) and Harry Mann (54) took Marsden away from an early collapse adding 81 together. However, Thorpe (4-25) and Paul Cook (3-40) saw to it that the revival didn't greatly affect Whitburn's chances.
South Shields hit their highest total of the summer, 222 at Durham City but could only draw when both sides finished on the same score. Shields were indebted initially to Ray McRae (64) and Michael Dunn who put on 75 before McRae and Jimmy Gaff (54) also added 75 together.
City gradually edged towards their target with Tom Meredith (107 not out) leading the way. They needed seven off the last over. Ashok Patel took a wicket with the first delivery but the scores were level with one ball left as Patel again hit the stumps.
Horden ended on a winning note at Felling. Thirteen economical overs from Andrew Robson brought 4-15 and another four wickets by Keith Cheetham meant Felling were dismissed for 139.
Felling then made a fight of it and it took a match-winning innings from Nadeem Khan (76 not out) to ensure Horden's victory.
Hetton Lyons' professional Gerry Strydom ended his season on a high, hitting 74 as his side made their way to 221. David Lowther (52 not out) then held Eppleton together to deny the Lyons a win.
