ORGANISERS of an annual horticultural show have hailed its success after it attracted more than 1,000 visitors.
The Hartlepool Horticultural Show took place last month and featured hundreds of prize exhibits from top growers from around the north and further afield.
Carnations, chrysanthemums, fuchsias and gladioli were among the flowers on display.
This year's event also included the British Gladiolus Society's Northern Exhibition, displays of floral art by Hartlepool and District Flower Club, and an exhibition of the winning entries from the local heat of this year's Northumbria in Bloom calendar painting competition.
Lesley Strickland, events officer for Hartlepool Borough Council, said: "The show was a real feast for the eyes. Congratulations to everyone who took part, the exhibits and displays were of the highest quality, and made a wonderfully impressive and colourful finale to the summer."
