A TEAM of showjumpers swept the board at a national equestrian competition despite being the smallest group taking part.
The four-member squad of riders won a place in the final of the Showjumping Championships of Great Britain after impressive displays in a qualifying heat at Seagold Centurion Equestrian Centre, in Hunwick.
Peter Irving, of Crook, and Ashley Tannahill, Deborah Sloan and Katherine Stone, of Sunniside, near Gateshead, then travelled to the David Broome Event Centre, in Wales, last month for the three-day competition.
Despite tough competition against teams from across Britain, they scored the most points over the three days and won the overall team trophy.
Derek Emerson, of Seagold, said: "As individuals they scored high points, so as a team they did really well.
"They did the area and themselves proud."
