TWO men needed hospital treatment after they were attacked by a gang armed with baseball bats, police revealed yesterday.
The attack happened shortly after 11pm last Wednesday, but details of the incident have only just been made available.
Police said eight men forced their way into a flat above the Bread Basket bakery, in Kilbridge Close, New Marske, Redcar, east Cleveland. Once inside, they assaulted the two men, one of whom was knocked unconscious.
The other, a 16-year-old, required treatment at the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, for severe bruising across his body, but has now been released.
Police appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
They are particularly keen to speak to the driver and occupants of a white Fiat Punto and a burgundy Vauxhall Cavalier, who were seen to leave the area shortly after the attack.
Anyone who is able to help is asked to contact police on (01642) 301957.
