ELECTRICAL engineers from the region have been called in to carry out a detailed survey of the British Library.
Engineers from TAS Engineering Consultants, in Stockton, are carrying out an electrical systems management survey at the national library's archives in Boston Spa, near Wetherby, West Yorkshire.
The British Library has more than 100km of shelving at Boston Spa, housing a collection devoted to its inter-library loan service. Fully-automated robotic pickers are used to select items to be dispatched to libraries around the UK and the world.
Much of the survey was carried out last month during a shutdown of the library's electrical distribution system. The library's has 150 million items.
